Sierra de las Nieves is a mountain range of the Penibaetic System in Málaga Province, Andalusia, Spain with its highest point being La Torrecilla (1,919 m)
Sierra de las Nieves is also the name of an administrative area, the comarca. The Sierra de las Nieves is named after the snow that sometimes covers its heights in the winter and that used to be gathered in ice pits for local use.
Getting there
The easiest way to get to the national park is to fly to Malaga and drive in a car. There are plenty of options to rent cars in the airport and Malaga city. The closest point is approximately a 50 minute drive making it one of the more accessible national parks in Spain.
When to visit
The region offers some of the best climate all year round. It gets very hot during the summer but the winters are quite mild. The national parks are often closed for access in the middle of July. Some of the best times to visit is during spring or fall.
