Veľká Fatra National Park is a National Park in Slovakia. Most of it lies in the southern part of the Žilina Region and a small part in the northern part of Banská Bystrica Region. The national park and its protective zone comprise most of the Greater Fatra Range (Slovak:Veľká Fatra) which belongs to the Outer Western Carpathians.
Getting there
The easiest way to reach the park is to go by car from Bratislava. You can fly to Bratislava from most major airports in Europe. The drive from Bratislava is approximately 3 hours.
When to visit
There is something to do in all seasons. The most popular seasons are the warmer ones. Especially summer attracts plenty of visitors to the park. There are a few ski resorts to visit during winter.
